Looping Thoughts

Explores anxiety, depression, suicide, and mental health in today's society.
L.G. Jusleine Daniel and Martin Calvino created the art collection.

🌻 Part of my creative process is honoring my brother’s memory by concretely expressing it. He loved the environment, and one of his major goals was to encourage communities to recycle, reuse, and share. I proudly ensure that I continue his legacy.

One thing is consistent in this installation and all the others: at least one item has been donated to me or recycled. I appreciate those who consciously let go of old stuff by donating them and unintentionally breathing new life into an old object.

In this installation, the sheetrock that the installation was done was a recycled piece of sheetrock that came from a construction site.

🌻 Uncovering our internal dialogue.

Now, think about the very end of your life—the moment of your death.

What would be your greatest satisfaction?

What would be your greatest regret?

Did you do your best, even when it was difficult?

Is the story you’re telling yourself aligning with living a fulfilling life?

🌻 Entropy and Negentropy:

As I look at this installation, I recognize myself as having been heavily influenced by Joan Miro; he is one of my favorite artists.

I started the piece thinking about circles. I see circles as self-contained completed seasons, with a seed inside them that will inevitably propel a new cycle within a particular human experience.

I constantly go back to thinking, “What seeds are we planning to plant within the next cycle in our lives.”

🌻 Personal Objects:

Books, glitter, lipstick, marbles, or other objects either cemented to the butterflies or presented in the art installation.

I see them as badges of identity, tiny little psychological churches containing a story of who we are, who we want to be, or who we are becoming, depending on the “ story that we choose to tell ourselves.”

🌻 Looping Thoughts from the artist’s perspective: It might be circular! Watch it.

The stories we tell ourselves provide an insight into who we are, who we stubbornly want to be, or in what direction we are evolving.

Once the story has been told, it is difficult for anyone to see herself or himself differently. When we reflect on these stories, we can learn more about ourselves, and we might even discover that it was the story we were telling ourselves, the one that hurt us the most.

The Poems: These are the conversions that the items in the installation have.

Poems that accompany the “Looping Thoughts” artwork.

Circles are the manifestation of thoughts stuck in the head. Each circle is a contemporary embrace of the thinking loop.

I am so stuck in that moment.

In that moment.

I am.

So stuck

Stuck. Stuck.

I am

In that moment.

So stuck.

Refusal of closure.

Suppressed but tangible emotions.

A run-on rhythm that never ends.

Comma-separated moments, so heavily flavored with pain.

I am so stuck in that moment.

In that moment of pain.

Thinking loops are doubtful currencies accepted in the Kingdom of Fear and Trembling.

He who happens to get in his head, thinking about the future and occupying some unpleasant future space, will remain in the looping circle.

Circles correspond to Kingdoms, Kingdom of Anger, Kingdom of Pain, Kingdom of Suffering, and Vain.

The looping thoughts are victims of the penitence experience that cannot see a new day.

However, Between the looping circles lies a leap of faith.

Looping Thoughts in Red.

I am

In that moment.

So stuck.

Refusal of closure.

Suppressed but tangible emotions.

A run-on rhythm that never ends.

Comma-separated moments, so heavily flavored with pain.

I am so stuck in that moment.

In that moment of pain.

Looping Thoughts in Grey

“But,” The Looping Thought in Grey said., “ We didn’t say that. We didn’t call you a thing of the P-A-S-T!”

“ Oh,” The Looping Though in Red said.

“ You see,” The Looping Thought in Red added. “ All is relative.” “Cause you are also a thing of the P-A-S-T.

Looping Thoughts in Pink.

A few tender flowers blooming on his way.

A crescendo. A pause.

Flowers allude to their own calming and secular way; they understand the despair.

“ Melancholy, skepticism, irony…”

A shaded soul full of pain, where T.H.E. authority is darkly humorous in its strength.

Looping Thoughts in Peach.

A few tender flowers blooming on his way.

A crescendo. A pause.

A peachy flower that takes care of his despair.

A crescendo. A pause. Calm despair.

He understands that he can redeem his past.

The butterflies will eventually come.

T.H.E. Authority is glittery pink in its compassion for his pain.

Title: Renew, rewind, renew.

Is there anywhere a forward button,

Is there a forward button that can transport

out of Autumn?

My stress is out with each leaf that falls.

My stress is in with each sobering dawn.

Renew, rewind, renew, did I fall?

Asleep.

Asleep in my forward button!?

A trip to inside the internet and dot.com

Climbing the tree of virtual experiences.

Anxiety and grievances.

A trip outside the Self.

I am leaving the tree of true experiences.

I became A virtual ELF,

On the computer all day.

On the computer, I lose touch with who I am.

I stopped knowing myself.

“Renew, rewind, renew.”
